SAFETY INSPECTION(monthly or quarterly)

  • Check brakes condition.
  • Check lights, horn and wipers.
  • Check tire tread depth and air pressure.
  • Check parking brake.

(A copy of the Federal Safety Inspection will be left with every vehicle.)

Perform P.M.I. service, tire rotation and safety brake inspection

LIGHT DUTY VEHICLES         $45.00
*Automotive to one-ton trucks with gas engine
(includes engine oil and oil filter)

MEDIUM DUTY VEHICLES     $65.00
*One-ton trucks with diesel engine to Class B

HEAVY DUTY VEHICLES        $85.00
*Over Class B vehicles

INDUSTRIAL FORKLIFTS       $45.00
(Includes engine oil and oil filter)

*Prices include D.O.T. inspection as needed

Drive On

  • Check operation of starter
  • Check steering wheel play
  • Check interior dash lights & switches
  • Check heater, defroster & accessories
  • Check horn - electric and air
  • Check window lifts, lube door hinges & locks
  • Check seat belts, seat operation & condition
  • Check wipers, washers & blades
  • Check parking brake operation
  • Check service brake operation
  • Check air governor operation
  • Check clutch pedal free travel
  • Check for unusual engine noise
  • Check transmission operation
  • Check oil pressure
  • Check head, clearance & signal lights
  • Check glass and body for damage

Under Chassis & Lube

  • Check engine oil & filter(s), and for leaks
  • Check engine governor
  • Check front bearings & king pins
  • Lube front axle assembly
  • Check front springs, shocks, center & u-bolts
  • Check steering assembly for looseness
  • Check pitman arm looseness
  • Check tie rods & drag links for looseness
  • Check ball and socket joints - any movement
  • Adjust brakes - check condition
  • Check parking brake components
  • Check cam mountings & bolts
  • Lube complete unit
  • Check clutch adjustment & linkage
  • Check transmissions & bell housing bolts
  • Check transmission oil level & for leaks
  • Check driveshaft u-joints for play
  • Check differential oil level & for leaks
  • Check rear springs, u-bolts & center bolts
  • Check equalizers, torque arm & brackets
  • Check frame & crossmembers

General Items

  • Test drive with clipboard
  • Check Driver's Report for repairs needed
  • Look at PM decal, remove, include w/ paperwork, install new decal
  • DOT inspect date installed
  • Qualified Inspector signature

 

Upper Chassis, Engine Cooling

  • Check cooling system & hose condition
  • Check coolant level - add 50/50 blend
  • Check fan hub bearings & brackets
  • Check waterpump bearing for looseness
  • Check compressor & alternator mounting
  • Check belts for condition & adjustment
  • Check fuel lines for tightness & leakage
  • Check exhaust system & brackets
  • Check visible bolts & engine mountings
  • Check air cleaner
  • Check wiring & battery cables
  • Check battery holddown, box & cover
  • Check throttle & accelerator linkage
  • Chech P/S fluid - fill to proper level
  • Check brake master cylinder fluid level
  • Engine tune-up wires and cap
  • Check bumper & mud flap mounting

Tires & Wheels

  • Rotate tires on 1 ton and down
  • Check wheel bearings, oil level
  • Inspect wheels, nuts & studs
  • Check axle flange nuts & gaskets
  • Record tire PSI & adjust to proper PSI
  • Verify vehicle information on top of form (mileage, vehicle #, VIN #)

Check Safety Equipment

  • Fire extinguisher
  • Reflector kit
  • Check spare fuses
  • Warnings
  • Inspect and service placards
  • Check backup alarm
